Google is No Longer Showing Political Ads for the Time Being

Google mother Alphabet is no longer showing political ads on its platforms for the time being. The company will put it on hold on January 14.

Reason for the temporary suspension of campaign messages is the disturbances in Washington last week.

Supporters of US President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol because they disagreed with the presidential election results.

They believe the election has been “stolen” by Trump’s opponent Joe Biden and his Democratic party. Incidentally, there is no evidence for this.

A spokesperson for Google explains that the restrictions apply to current sensitive topics in the US, such as Trump’s impeachment procedure and his successor, Joe Biden.

According to the tech company, putting ads on hold during sensitive or unpredictable events is often done to prevent the spread of misleading information.
